Motion systems and mechanisms
AMS motion systems are entirely custom-designed and manufactured to integrate seamlessly with the geometry, operational requirements and design of each yacht.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) enables the optimisation of structural design and fibre orientation according to the applied loads, achieving an optimal balance between weight, strength and stiffness. Advanced carbon fibre lamination technologies also allow the manufacture of complex geometries that would be difficult to achieve using conventional materials and manufacturing processes.
For doors and hull openings, the weight reduction offered by carbon fibre helps minimise moving masses and optimise the space required for actuation mechanisms. AMS manufactures stern doors, garage doors, balconies, sliding doors, hatches and other fully customised solutions.
For hardtops and structures installed on the upper sections of the yacht, the lightweight properties of carbon fibre help reduce mass at elevated positions. Developed in collaboration with designers and shipyards, AMS hardtops can accommodate radar equipment, antennas and other onboard systems, while providing protection for deck areas through a lightweight structure that complements the yacht’s design.
AMS expertise in composite engineering and manufacturing also enables the development of roll bars, beach platforms, swim ladders, adjustable louvre systems, lifting tables and special components, transforming specific technical and aesthetic requirements into fully customised carbon fibre solutions.
Design criteria
Each component is engineered according to applicable Classification Society requirements and specific load cases. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) allows the structure and carbon fibre layup to be optimised according to the direction and magnitude of the applied loads.
Materials
– Pre-impregnated carbon fibre with epoxy resin matrix
– Vacuum-laminated carbon fibre with epoxy resin matrix
– Short carbon fibre reinforced epoxy composite, vacuum-processed
Carbon fibre doors and hull openings
Stern doors, garage doors, balconies, sliding doors, hatches and other types of hull openings.
Other carbon fibre components
Hardtops, roll bars, covers, beach platforms, swim ladders, adjustable louvre systems, lifting tables and fully customised solutions.
Finish
Matt or gloss carbon-look finish, or painted in any RAL or custom colour to match the yacht’s exterior styling.
Weight and strength
For equivalent structural requirements, an optimised carbon fibre design can achieve a weight reduction of at least 30% compared to an equivalent metallic solution, depending on geometry, applied loads and project specifications.

AMS telescopic navigation light masts combine functionality, seamless integration and aesthetics. They are designed to complement the exterior styling of luxury yachts over 50 metres in length.

Beyond the solutions developed for the yachting industry, AMS applies its engineering, design and manufacturing expertise to special projects, developing customised solutions to meet specific technical requirements and unconventional applications.
